STAFF PROFILE – KAREN SENIOR
I was born in Newcastle in the mid 1970s. My Dad was a gardener and my Mum looked after me and my older sister. My Mum was born with Spina Bifida but never let this stop her from doing things she loved and she was a huge inspiration to us.
I eventually left home at 19 to study English at Huddersfield University and lived there for a while afterwards before moving to Lincoln and then eventually to York when I was 30.
Before coming to work at York Personal Support I worked in the Registry department at York St John University for ten years, helping to support students through their studies.
I live with my two sons and Cookie the cat. They keep me fairly busy, but when I do have time to myself I love watching films and reading.
I have worked at YPS for just over a year and really enjoy it!
OUR STATUS AS AN ACCREDITED DSA NMH PROVIDER HAS BEEN RENEWED!
Due to the hard work and dedication of our team, York Personal Support has renewed its status as an accredited DSA (Disabled Students Allowances) Non Medical Help Provider! This means that we can continue to provide specialist support to students, such as mentoring, one-to-one study skills, note taking and mobility and orientation.
GDPR – By now you should have received a letter from us about the new GDPR regulations. If you have not replied, please don’t worry. Service will carry on as usual unless you contact us to say that you wish to opt out of communications.
“Absolutely amazing! Truly person-centred. Fantastic service for both users and staff. Never had such happy staff!”
“The service, professionalism and care that York Personal Support provide is excellent and we cannot fault it.”
WE HAVE MOVED!
Admittedly, we’ve not moved very far… just from the top floor of the Innovation Centre to the ground floor. The move has a few advantages – no more stairs to climb, and we’re closer to the café and vending machines!
HERE COMES THE SUN
All of us at YPS are so happy to finally see some lovely sunny weather. It feels as though summer is in sight!
We would also like to welcome some new additions to our team:
We sadly say goodbye to Vanessa Roe who we wish every success for the future.
