SERVICE USER PROFILE – HOLLY
My name is Holly, I’m 23-years-old and I am registered as blind due to a condition called Retinopathy of Prematurity (ROP).
I started my blog, lifeofablindgirl.com back in 2015 as a way of sharing my experiences of living with a vision impairment, educate others on disability, tackle some of the common misconceptions surrounding sight loss and help other disabled people in any way I can. You can find posts on all thing’s visual impairment and disability, University and employment, as well as sharing my experiences such as going to concerts.
My blog has evolved so much over the last 4 years, it’s not just my hobby anymore, it’s a huge part of my life. I’ve had some amazing opportunities that I never imagined would ever even happen including being involved in some disability related campaigns for charities such as the RNIB and Scope as well as writing for publications. I think the most surreal moment was when I was listed as one of the top 100 most influential disabled people in the UK in the Shaw Trust Disability Power list, it’s one of my proudest achievements!
I want to use my platform to empower other blind and vision impaired young people, I want them to know that they can live a
fulfilling and independent life, despite having a disability.
Following our recent inspection by the Care Quality Commission we are delighted to announce we achieved a rating of GOOD.

Is the service Well-Led?
We were rated GOOD on all these questions leading to an overall rating of GOOD.
A lot of hard work goes into ensuring we run a service to be proud of and we would like to extend our thanks to our staff for helping make this happen and to our service users whose feedback is invaluable.
